Reading Camp
“Reading was hard for me – but I’m getting better. Goosebumps books are my favorite.”
-Recent reading camp participant
Children naturally want to fit in and feel a sense of accomplishment. Imagine how difficult it would be to keep up with your classmates if you struggled with the basics of reading.
Reading Camp is an annual, week long program for third and fourth graders who read below grade level. The campers, nominated by their teachers, receive personal instruction and practice each
day with an adult volunteer. And it’s not all work – campers swim, eat pizza, and go on field trips including a tour of the library. Getting their own library card helps keep campers’ interest high after the week is over.
It’s a week that pays dividends for a lifetime.
St. Paul’s plays a key role in organizing, funding and staffing this annual program, sponsored by
the Episcopal Church. We invite you to make a real, tangible difference in the life of a child.
